April Marks Another Record at ICT

April marks another record at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport for passenger traffic.  A total of 136,125 passengers flew in and out during the month, an increase of 4.54% over last April.  This was the busiest April on record, surpassing the previous record, which occurred April 2008, by 5,662 passengers.  It is marks ten consecutive months of increased passenger traffic.  For the year, passenger traffic is up 6.29%.  The airlines with the biggest increases are Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines.  Frontier, which began service August 30 of last year, also boosted travel demand.  The USBC Women’s Bowling Championship which began April 20  likely helped boost passenger numbers as well.

Air cargo continues to show large increases.  In April, enplaned tonnage increased 3.52% and deplaned tonnage increased 15.32%; total cargo increased 10.48% and for the year is up 10.15%.

Food and gift concessions increased 9.22% over last April.  Rental cars had a 9.17% increase in April and parking revenue had a whopping 23.69% increase in April over last year.
