It’s safe to fly: Why and where you should be right now

Whether it’s for business or for a long-overdue break on the beach, it’s safe to fly right now. You are at far greater risk of catching COVID-19 on the ground than you are in the sky. Even on a full flight, a recent study by the U.S. Department of Defense determines that the chances of a virus spreading are almost non-existent. You are statistically more likely to be struck by lightning — one in 1.2 million — than you are to catch a cold or COVID-19 on an airplane.

Here’s why. When you fly commercial, you’re sharing a plane with others — not the air. Cabin air is filtered. Constantly. It circulates through HEPA filters and comes out 99.99% pure. Then recirculates, again and again. Studies show it is one of the safest indoor environments in the world right now. So when you’re on board and wearing a mask, you can breathe easy.

Mask up and go

You’re of course required to wear a mask on board and at the airport. But that’s true of the grocery store, bank, and every other indoor place right now. That hasn’t stopped us from going there and getting on with our lives. You can get on with yours, and get away from it all — safely — with us.

Have you seen fares lately?

There’s never been a more affordable time to fly. Seats are open and airlines are looking to fill them. Now is a good time to book a flight to just about anywhere. It might even make business sense to book a flight to meet an important client face-to-face instead of screen-to-screen for a change. How long has it been since you’ve done that?

There’s no place like away from home right now. We get it. And we can get you there safely. There are plenty of places to go where you can spread way out and enjoy the slopes, the surf, the sun, or the majestic scenery at a social distance. Travel, in fact, might be the healthiest thing you could do for yourself.

Here are some destinations to consider.
